Join mainstages for an interactive session where you will learn inclusive and culturally responsive activities, tips and strategies so every camper is seen and included in the fun at camp!

This session offers icebreakers, movement games, diverse themes, an inclusive language document and music-based activities that will assure you feel prepared and campers feel represented. You will walk away with easy to implement ideas and tools that will create a HUGE impact on your camp community!

Jo'Lisa Jones

Jo'Lisa is the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Coordinator for mainstages, an interactive educational theater company for children that creates curriculum and programming for camps, schools, and organizations nationwide. She has performed with many NYC theaters and partnered with organizations that specialize in elevating the voices of marginalized communities. Jo'Lisa has used applied theatre to work closely with people of all races, genders, and neuro-diversities and takes the lead for mainstages in creating a safe and inclusive space for creative programming that is accessible to all.

Learning Outcomes

  1. Participants will learn how to speak with a diverse population from our inclusive language guide with resources on race, gender, family, socio-economic, and housing status.
  2. Participants will learn a diverse list of themes from our Culturally Responsive Theme Guide.
  3. Participants will learn facilitation techniques and hands-on activities to structure and engage campers of all races, ethnicities, cultures, genders, and disabilities.

Participants will also receive Inclusive Language and Culturally Responsive Guides to reference for you and your entire camp.
